Welcome to ILMA CENTER of the Washington Metropolitan Area
ILMA which stands for 'Knowledge' is mentioned in Quran 20:119. and that's precisely what ILMA Center is all about: Providing comprehensive islamic education to all, muslims and non muslims. Our students are taught to behave by these 4 Core Values that also make up our acronym: Indulge, Learn, Master and Achieve. That's the ILMA Way!
At ILMA Center, our amazing team of regulars and part-time volunteers are committed to helping others. We take our convictions and turn them into action. Think you would be a good fit? Get in touch for more information!
ILMA CENTER matches volunteer tutors with our students based on volunteers’ schedules, locations, and preferences. In doing so, we can transform education and create a community grounded in empathy that works for everybody.
Through the teaching of the Quran, we aim to build a community of children and adults alike to develop a strong moral barometers. Our sessions are offered after school and on weekends throughout the day
ILMA Center was born in the living room of Imam Papa Mboup who dedicated his home and his time to teaching Quran to kids on weekends. We've consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community and ILMA alumni.
ILMA interfaith dialogue engagement brings people of different religious faiths together for conversations. These conversations can take an array of forms and possess a variety of goals and formats including mutual support in projects and support.
ILMA Center's spiritual team is here to support the community for all of their religious needs. From matrimonial needs to the birth of your child as well as funeral services, we are here to provide you with the necessary guidance.
The most vulnerable among us are not forgotten and play an important role in our organization. Women and adult programs such as our popular Adult Literacy Program share a center stage at ILMA.
ILMA Youth stand on our 4 core principles that also make up our name: Indulge, Learn, Master and Achieve with a comprehensive understanding of Islam, allowing them to seamlessly associate Islamic principles with their American culture.
EID and cultural events are an important part in any community, ILMA Center aims to celebrate with the public whenever the opportunity is here while promoting Islamic values.
Help make a difference in someone's life by becoming a volunteer. We connect with you to match you with one or more of our programs. Many kids need help and most can't afford private tutoring. What better way to share your strength than by contributing in someone's personal growth. That's an ILMA Core Value.

100% of collected funds go to support our operations as we work with wonderful and dedicated volunteers. They are several ways to donate. Please contact us for additional information. With our increasing student body, our current location is being slowly outgrown by the center's activities and is calling for an upgrade. We are setting our sight on a new location suitable to host our public programs. ILMA Center Board of Directors has authorized a global fundraising campaign geared toward acquiring or building the future ILMA Community Center. InshAllah, our goal is to raise $800.000 by the 3rd quarter of 2023 to help secure some real estate.
We'd love to interact with you, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
